JULY 26TH – KELOWNA, BC – OFFICIAL AFTER PARTY FOR OKANAGAN TATTOO SHOW W/ MATADORS, PREYING SAINTS, RATTLESNAKE SHAKES
Hailing from Calgary, Alberta, Frankie McQueen succeeds in raising
pulses and causing voluntary whiplash. They take a blues-heavy,
visceral rock set and punctuate it nicely with the occasional
lighter-flicking ballad. Getting back to the roots of hard rock is no
problem for Frankie, but we’re not dealing with any Black Sabbath
cover band. Frankie McQueen seamlessly blends classic rock with the
contemporary sounds we crave. Not afraid of taking risks, this band is
constantly evolving and tweaking their sound in a great way.
Graveyard, Black Sabbath and The Foo Fighters are just a few of their
biggest influences. This hard working, hard hitting group will leave
you with the taste of bourbon in your mouth.
Formed in 2007 Frankie McQueen has seen it all. From dingy biker
dives, to opening for bands like Flash Lightning, Daniel Wesley and
Bedouin Sound Clash. Starting at the bottom, Frankie McQueen played
anywhere they could get a gig. The group developed a loyal following
early in their career and in 2009 they recorded their first demo EP.
Shortly after their first demo, Frankie McQueen won the New Cap Radio
Rock Star competition. This $250,000 dollar prize was a huge boost for
Frankie and gave them the recognition they needed to progress. In
early 2010, the band had just finished taking a break from performance
to concentrate on writing. From there they really started gaining
momentum. Producer/Manager Graham Sharkey hooked up with Frankie
McQueen in late 2010. With Graham on their side, and with the help of
Canadian Country Music Superstar George Canyon, Chris Byrne and many
others, Frankie McQueen chose 5 tracks and recorded a new EP at Reiny
Dawg Studios. The EP was released in February 2012.
Frankie McQueen came together from a wide variety of musical styles
and backgrounds. A solid group of guys, they’d way rather have a beer
with a fan after the show than sign an autograph.
