TILLER’S FOLLY
Outdoor Summer Concert
July 18 7:30 pm
3360 Anderson Rd. Kelowna, BC
Tiller’s Folly is the preeminent Canadian based award winning Americana/Folk/Celtic group at the forefront of a bold new movement in acoustic roots music. For the past sixteen years, through 1000’s of performances stretching from the Pacific Northwest to the British Isles, they have spread their memorable blend of energy, history, musicality, romance and just plain fun from small and large halls to television, radio, theatres and festivals.
Hailed by critics “Tiller’s Folly is a national treasure”. – Peter North, Edmonton Journal, their words and melodies are at once populist and poignant while at the same time powerful and sincere.
Fuelled by their unfailing passion and enthusiasm for the music, Tiller’s is continually experimenting with different phrasing, tones and textures while recording with some of today’s most exciting and innovative musicians as they continue to evolve as artists. This experimentation has moved them in a fresh new direction. Bruce Coughlan, Nolan Murray and Laurence Knight, the current members of the band are merging their past experiences and influences with some new ones including traditional bluegrass as well as the popular new grass and beyond.
In the summer of 2012 the band received critical praise and world-wide recognition they won the 11th Annual Independent Music Awards Vox Pop Poll for their song “Death & Taxes” penned by Tiller’s prolific lead singer and songwriter Bruce Coughlan.
They have just come off a successful Southern Tour with Newgrass legend John Cowan to cities such as Nashville TN, Aberdeen NC, and Ashland VA.
This is a unique opportunity to see this band in a small venue in a special summer outdoor concert in the country. (There is a covered area in case of rain). If you have never been to one of the Kelowna Folk Club House concerts this is an excellent place to start. This band really delivers. Check them out at http://www.youtube.com/user/TillersFolly.
Tickets go on sale June 20 at ABC Hobby & Games on Dilworth or online at http://www.kelownafolkclub.ca for $25.00 with all proceeds going to the band.
