Bill Bourne – April 26 at the East Kelowna Community Hall

The Kelowna Folk Club
presents
BILL BOURNE
On tour Live

April 26 at the East Kelowna Community Hall

Canada’s folk/blues shaman, Bill Bourne, is coming to Kelowna.   A multiple Juno nominee and award winner, Bill’s music is diverse and rich with many traditional music elements from around the world. He plays guitar and sings with a deep and soulful sound; his songs convey stories that are poetic and life affirming. A veteran story teller from the very first note regardless of the style or genre of music, this is the way it was meant to be done – from the very beginning you will hang off every note anticipating more to come.

Bill is a great collaborator and was here last with the group Tri-continental, and toured and recorded with the Tannahill Weavers, Eivor Palsdottir, his son Patrick Bourne, etc.

In his latest album, Songs from a Gypsy Caravan, Bill continues to explore genres and their myriad influences. As noted by the Globe and Mail reviewer “This dude’s plugged into a heavy mainline, his songs coming through in a steady soulful charge. The eclectic Canadian veteran mostly uses a finger picked acoustic guitar as he works his way through dirt road gospel, mesmerizing folk, and Delta stomp and slide”.  Don’t miss the magical, mystery of Bourne.

Zeus Bring Canadian Tour To On April 11 At Flashbacks

Busting Visions Deluxe Edition With Seven-Song Cover Me EP Out April 2

Cover Me EP Features Songs By Michael Jackson, R. Kelly, Stone Temple Pilots, Flaming Lips & More Available On Tour

Listen To The Band’s Version Of Stone Temple Pilots’ Hit “Vasoline HERE

Just over one year from the Arts & Crafts release of Zeus‘ breakout sophomore album, Busting Visions, the celebrated Toronto rock quartet is set to issue a deluxe edition of the album, complete with a collection of seven diverse cover recordings, each interpreted in Zeus’ dynamic yet singular sound.

Recorded between the band’s Ill Eagle Studio and the ranch studio of labelmate Feist, Busting Visions turned heads in 2012 as a sweaty romp of a record, with fuzzed-out riffs, razor-sharp hooks and harmonies galore.

Entitled Cover Me, the EP is available digitally as part of the Busting Visions deluxe package or on CD via GalleryAC and off stage at an upcoming Zeus tour stop.

Stream the band’s version of Stone Temple Pilots’ hit “Vasoline” on SoundCloud now.

Zeus will embark on a Spring North American tour alongside friends Yukon Blonde as well as select festival dates across the continent and a special performance in Panama City at Festival Abierto this March.

Check out full Zeus tour plans here.

Towers and Trees has emerged from Victoria’s fertile music scene on the strength of an infectious live energy, rich sound and earnest songwriting. In February 2013, the indie-folk collective was named the Zone at 91.3 FM’s Band of the Month on the strength of their single, “Montreal,” which may be the station’s most highly requested Band of the Month song ever. Several regional award nominations have followed, including two Vancouver Island Music Awards and four M Awards (Monday Magazine), and the group is now receiving offers from festivals and venues across the province. Towers and Trees focus for the coming year is as clear as it is simple: find joy in playing music and share that joy with as many people as possible. The future is bright indeed.

Greg Drummond:

The warm yet gravely vocal style of Vancouver-based singer/songwriter Greg Drummond captures listeners and pairs unpredictably well with his lively toe-tapping melodies. Whether in front of a crowd or in the studio, Drummond promises to create music of sincerity as he evolves artistically and independently. In November, Drummond’s song “Walking Man” was selected as the $10,000 winner in the “Best of BC” contest hosted by the Shore 104.1 FM in Vancouver. His debut album, for which Walking Man is the lead single and title track, was released in September of 2011.
