Matt Andersen teams up with Steve Berlin

HALIFAX – The newest signee to Canada’s longest running record label True North Records – guitarist and songwriter Matt Andersen – announces the release of“Weightless” on January 28, 2014. The album was recorded with Grammy-winning producer Steve Berlin (Los Lobos) at the Sonic Temple in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada.

The much lauded songwriter, who hails from the blue collar community of Perth-Andover, New Brunswick, is known for his electrifying live shows, and has been steadily building his fanbase in Canada and around the world. This year promises to be a banner year, with today’s announcement of over sixty tour dates worldwide, culminating in a Massey Hall show on March 1 in Toronto.

Dusty with some shimmer, the new album is infused with Andersen’s unparalleled dexterity on the guitar, cut with moments of songwriterly reflection. With Steve Berlin acting as grace note behind the boards, Andersen’s command of blues and soul are tempered in just the right places.
