BC Open House with Bob D’Eith
SATURDAY, MAY 7, 2011

The Music BC Interior Office is proud to host a Music BC Open House at the Streaming Café on Saturday, May 7, 2011 from 1pm – 4pm. Present at the Open House will be Music BC Executive Director Bob D’Eith and Interior Office Director Quinn Best. The two will be providing information on the opportunities that Music BC will be providing regionally as well provincially for emerging artists in 2011 including the K96.3 – Kelowna’s Classic Rock K Comp, the Festival Kelowna Parks Alive Series, the Pop Okanagan Festival and Career Development Series, as well as the PEAK Performance Project.

K96.3 – Kelowna’s Classic Rock and Music BC will launch Vol. 2 of their K Comp Emerging Artist Development Series on June 3rd, 2011. The K Comp is a compilation disc featuring emerging artists from around the Okanagan as well as a development series featuring educational workshops featuring industry professional speakers and one-of-a-kind live performance opportunities. Applications to be part of K Comp Vol. 2 will open to Okanagan-based emerging artists on June 3rd. Visit www.k963.fm for more information.

The Festivals Kelowna Parks Alive Series is a live concert series which takes place during July and August throughout many of Kelowna’s parks and public spaces. Festivals Kelowna is currently taking submissions for local and touring artists to take part in the series and they can find application forms online at www.festivalskelowna.com.

Brand new in 2011 is the Pop Okanagan Festival and Career Development Series. Local and touring artists are able to apply to take part in the Pop Okanagan Festival (a legacy event to replace the touring BreakOut West Festival) and, if chosen to play at the festival, will take part in a Career Development Series presented by Music BC featuring workshops and panel discussions featuring some of today’s leading music industry professionals. Artists can visit www.popokanagan.com to apply.

The Music BC Open House at the Streaming Café is free to attend and open to the public. Artists, Music BC members and non-members alike are encouraged to come out and learn more about their local 2011 opportunities as well as to have some one-on-one discussion time with Bob D’Eith or Quinn Best.
