West Coast Band Returns From US Tour, Prepares For Festival Performances At Sasquatch & Lollapalooza
Wake Owl Debuts Teen Daze Remix Of “Wild Country” Via Earmilk
Wild Country EP Out Now On Rezolute Music
After the first single “Gold” was featured on Grey’s Anatomy and hit the #1 spot on Hype Machine’s Most Popular Tracks chart in November, Wake Owl debuted the video for “Gold”. The song itself hit number one on Sirius XM’s The Verge and debuted in the top ten on CBC Radio 3, while the EP as a whole debuted in the top five on !earshot’s national folks/roots campus radio chart and at number 16 on the National Alternative Album Sales Chart.
The west coast songwriter and his band recently returned from a very successful twenty date US tour and released the video for their second single, “Wild Country”. Wake Owl have now announced Canadian tour dates including Edgefest in Toronto, Keloha Festival in Kelowna and performances in Regina, Edmonton, Calgary and Vancouver. The band will continue to tour internationally as well with festival appearances at Sasquatch and Lollapalooza in Chicago now confirmed. All tour dates are listed below.
“intricately constructs hymns out of warm-strummed folk, breezy country hardware like steel guitars and violins, and his slightly psychedelic coo.”
Entertainment Weekly
“…immaculately crafted: tonally hushed and reflective …assertive and hooky…” NOW Magazine
“indie-folk equivalent of the perfect guitar solo” – Esquire
“shimmering folk-rock” The Georgia Straight
“Wild Countryis clearly a snowball rolling down the best tobogganing hill. …it’s easy to fall in love with Wake Owl.” Beatroute
“There is something so hauntingly beautiful about Wake Owl that it stops you dead in your tracks” Post City.
“Wild Country is an unexpected joy, an unearthed treasure.” Hero Hill
The six tracks on the Wild Country EP introduce Wake Owl – led by primary member and singer/songwriter Colyn Cameron – as a unique, reflective new voice. The soul-searching songs range from the evocative title track’s poignant mix of pedal steel, violin, and brushed drums, to the buoyant drive of the rising “You’ll Never Go.” The haunting hushed-to-triumphant build of single “Gold” gives way to the bright cadence of the sing-along worthy “Grow”, before the moody atmosphere of wistful “Seaside” closes out the EP. Shepherded by Cameron’s softly rasped, reedy vocals, Wild Country paints a lush, broad musical landscape that’s at once personal and universal, intimate yet accessible.

I just caught local jazz guitarist Loni Moger playing at Good Earth coffee on Pandosy. They have live music now, and serving beer and wine from Okanagan Springs & Grey Monk Winery. It’s a great place to chill and catch live music. Located at 2929 Pandosy Street, they recently re-opened on April 2nd with a New Look, New Beer & Wine menu, New Patio, New Live Music and New Energy!
Loni is a musician who has supported and learned from many over the years, ( Tuck and Patti, Bo Didley,, Big Miller,Tommy banks, P.J.Perry, Moe Kaufman, Tim Tamashiro, The Swinging Bovines, Karl Roth, David Thiaw, Ellen Churchill,Barb Samuel, Zoe Theodorou, OlgaOsipova, Flora Ware) His desire to grow as an entertainer is only equalled by his thirst for knowledge and musical gear. He has delvedinto the intellectual side of music at the prestigious Berklee College of Music and the artistic side of life through nature and people. Loni’s style is firmly rooted in the tradition and discipline of Jazz, but with pop sensibilities that make his music accessible to a wide audience. His groove is deep and his voice isenticing; as one fan put it, “It’s like having a conversation with a good friend…”.
