THE CROOKED BROTHERS DEBUTS LIVE VIDEO FOR “KENNEDY” FROM UPCOMING ALBUM THANK YOU I’M SORRY
ANNOUNCES CANADIAN FALL TOUR DATES
Manitoba folk and blues trio The Crooked Brothers have debuted the new live video for “Kennedy” from the Manitoba Music Loft Sessions. The band’s upcoming third studio album, Thank You I’m Sorry, is set for release September 23 via Transistor 66. Canadian tour dates begin in October at the BreakOut West Music Festival and all tour dates are listed below.

Whether showing off their shiny sides for a video or getting real sweaty on stage at the venue, the live setting suits The Crooked Brothers just fine. In either location the Manitoba folk and blues trio can hold the whole the room at attention with a single harmonica, or shake it with a growl and a filthy rhythm. In their latest video for album single “Kennedy”, the viewer gets the sweeter, gentler, three-part harmony side of their live performance. If you want to see the Brother’s grittier side, you’ll have to catch them on tour in Canada beginning in October.
Filmed in a cavernous warehouse for Manitoba Music’s Loft Sessions The Crooked Brothers are joined by Julian Bradford (Del Barber, Moses Mayes) on upright bass, Eric Lemoine (The F-Holes, Little Miss Higgins) on pedal steel, and Emmet Van Etten (The Weber Brothers, Ronnie Hawkins) on drums.
“The album version of “Kennedy” is pretty stripped down, but for the live Loft Sessions video we decided to round up the whole Thank You I’m Sorry band,” says brother Darwin Baker. “The shoot took place in a Winnipeg Exchange District warehouse space similar to the one where we recorded bass & drums, only this one was completely empty. I love the sound of drums in a big space like that.”
“Working with Manitoba Music is always great,” says brother Jesse Matas. “They’re an amazing and knowledgeable group of people fostering music in Manitoba like no one else, and the video shoot was fun. Emmet out dressed us all though.”
Their upcoming album, Thank You I’m Sorry is folk music full of left turns. No strangers to wide open spaces, the The Crooked Brothers captured their album in both Winnipeg’s Private Ear Studio, a downtown warehouse recording studio, and a handmade log home in the country. The resulting sound closely reflects their live dynamics. Practically a Crooked Family Variety Act their concerts see banjos, mandolins, guitars, and more taking turns being juggled from brother to brother. Matt Foster’s unforgettably strange voice, inhuman and gravelly deep. Baker’s deft handling of the harmonica. Matas’ stories and poems turned lyrics. Each having their own style and touch, the arrangements seem limitless, and there’s a refreshing sense that they will never write the same song twice.
Having performed to sold-out rooms at festivals such as Brighton’s Great Escape, and Switzerland’s Spring Bluegrass Festival Willisau, The Crooked Brother’s will take their banjos, beards, and harmonies on tour across Canada beginning in October. Their latest album,Thank You I’m Sorry, is set for release on September 23 via Transistor 66.

Sloan
http://sloanmusic.com/
Sloan is without doubt the most truly democratic group in the annals of rock, with Jay Ferguson, Chris Murphy, Patrick Pentland, and Andrew Scott all contributing original compositions to each record, equal partners with equal say over every aspect of their work. Commonwealth – their first all-new release in three years – sees the Toronto-based quartet disassociating ever so slightly to create one of the more unique and ambitious recordings of their two-decade-plus career, an old-school double album with each member staking out a single side as their own artistic dominion.
