Their self-titled EP, a clash of mainstream and indie-rock production, is truly a testament to their sound. The disc was recorded in Vancouver at Mushroom Studios, Lab Monkey Sound and District 4 with producers/engineers Shawn Cole (You Say Party! We Say Die!, Bend Sinister), Shawn Penner & Aaron Nordean (Matthew Good, Hot Hot Heat).

Jill Barber Tomorrow Night!!


Miss T Promotions is brining Jill Barber back to Kelowna after two great shows at the Blue Gator in the past 10 months. Jill has been getting critical acclaim from her latest album, For All Time. She won an East Coast Music Award, and recently opened for Ron Sexsmith on his tour. This is going to be a great show!

WASSABI JAM

In true jamband fashion, Vancouver’s The Wassabi Collective has two main goals when it comes to performing: make you dance and make you think. By combining socially conscious lyrics and forward political activism with world-beat-infused trance, reggae, funk and soul, the quintet has become one of Canada’s best live acts. Led by sultry vocalist and percussionist Melissa Meretsky, the collective mixes Particle’s groove with Toubab Krewe’s global consciousness, dusted off with a Deep Banana Blackout-themed sensuality. “We aim to keep people moving for hours while spreading good intentions to create music that inspires positive people, in order to engender positive change,” explains Meretsky. Check out Hey Ocean with Zen Media at the Habitat this Friday night. Friday night at the Grateful Fed is Helicon. Sunday night there’s Sweetheart, The February March & Terza Rima at the Habitat.

Thanks to all that helped petition city council and help the Habitat get the restaurant-liquor license they needed to continue to hold great shows and support live music.

The White Stripes

No Kelowna show, but pretty cool none the less.

This summer The White Stripes will visit their neighbors in the “Great White North” as they embark on a tour of Canada that takes in all 10 provinces, as well as the Yukon, Nunavut and Northwest Territories.
