Opportunities that are coming up for local artists!

I just wanted to pass on some opportunities that are coming up for local artists that you should all be aware of!

First of all… Music BC will be hosting a SchMusic Party at Habitat on Friday, June 3rd from 6pm-9pm. This is a chance for local artists and industry to meet, mingle and build contacts in a relaxed atmosphere. June 3rd also marks the submissions launch for K96.3’s K Comp Vol. 2 which is a compilation made up of emerging artists from around the Okanagan. The night will also give you the opportunity to learn more about Music BC and the K Comp as well as give you the opportunity to sign up for both! The event is free to attend (even for non-Music BC members) and will also feature a live performance from K Comp Vol. 1 artist Windborn.

For more information on Music BC you can visit www.musicbc.org and for more info on the K Comp visit www.k963.fm.

Second, we have a great festival blooming in Kelowna called Pop Okanagan – a legacy event to replace BreakOut West that happened here last year because it was such a huge success. The festival will take place from October 13th – 16th around a number of Downtown Kelowna venues. Submissions are now open for artists to take part in the festival and you can download the application form atwww.popokanagan.com. You can also find a little more information about the festival on the site.

If you have any questions about any of these events/opportunities don’t hesitate to contact Pyper Geddes
