AUSTRALIAN HARD ROCKERS THE LAZYS SET TO TOUR CANADA THIS SPRING

April 20th at Fernando’s Pub

Australia’s The Lazys eagerly return to Canada this spring, performing headlining dates in addition to shows alongside JUNO Award nominees Danko Jones. The tour announcement comes fresh off the success of their debut Canadian single “Shake It Like You Mean It”(Pheromone Recordings), which hit #2 on CBC’s Rock chart in December 2014. The track was co-written by Ian D’Sa of Billy Talent and produced by Garth “GGGarth” Richardson (Rage Against The Machine, Nickelback, Mötley Crüe), a powerhouse collaboration that The Lazys plan to revisit on new recording sessions in April.

The Lazys have been warmly embraced in North America following their fall 2014 tour where they opened for The Trews, One Bad Son and Big Wreck. The band’s loud and edgy performances at last year’s CMJ Music Marathon in New York City also grabbed the attention of Rolling Stone, which hailed them as the new torchbearers for Australian hard rock. The 2015 tour will kickoff onApril 9 at The Oak in Winnipeg and wrap on May 17 at Hunter’s Ale House in Charlottetown.

“We are so pumped to come back to Canada, our home away from home and play some loud Rock ‘n’ Roll again,” says The Lazys guitarist Mat Morris. “Hitting the road, the stage, sharing a beverage with old and new fans, playing our music from one side of the country to the other. That’s what it’s all about.”

The Lazys quickly became the buzz of last year’s Canadian Music Week (CMW) in Toronto, where they performed three showcases in just 23 hours. Their CMW performances included a set at the legendary Horseshoe Tavern alongside fellow Australians You Am I and a packed show at the Bovine Sex Club. As a result, renowned Canadian artist manager Larry Wanagas of Bumstead Productions signed them to a co-management agreement to represent them worldwide.

“If ‘Shake It Like You Mean It’ was on AC/DC’s latest album, it would

be hailed as a late career classic.”

– Rolling Stone Australia (2015)

The Lazys may just be the new saviours of Rock ‘n’ Roll. Hands down they are

the best new live band I’ve seen all year.”

– Ian D’Sa (Billy Talent)
