No DJ’s this year at Rockanagan. The promoters also realized that they and the bands were getting ripped off by the DJ promoter, Flydjs (http://flydjs.com/), and thus canceled any DJ’s from this promoter.
Any independent DJ’s wishing to play in between sets are welcome to, although they must realize there will be no financial compensation.
Also, even though the bands do not get paid for this event, they do get to be seen and heard by A&R reps from major labels.

Yeah, you don’t get rich at gigs like that. I guess what bothers US the most is that a single DJ can put four to six real musicians out of a job for the night. That’s technology replacing workers, bums me out…

I’m hearing from a lot of bands that the Rockanagan is a joke of a festival. They pay the dj’s in between the bands to spin tunes but pay the bands nothing….that’s right NOTHING!!!! I was in a band that played the first year and we got ripped off as well. They should call this festival screw all bands 20008!

Hey, I’m Jill. I’m in a band from Fort St John BC, and we’re kind of still starting out. We’ve never toured before, as we’ve only been together for a year, but in summer 2008, we’re planning on a BC/Alberta mini tour. Basically just playing as many shows as we can. Are there any festivals or anything that you know of that we could apply for? if not, do you know anyone that we could get ahold of? Any help would be really appreciated. You can usually get ahold of us through myspace. myspace.com/lastchanceannapascal Thanks again! Look forward to hearing from you.
