A Maple Blues award nominee, guitarist, songwriter and singer Arsen Shomakhov, is an electric blues performer truly dedicated to the style’s roots yet never hesitating to borrow means of expression from other genres.

He established himself as a blues-devoted virtuoso in his native Russia making it to the International Blues Challenge (IBC) in Memphis in 2005 and winning the new talent contest at the King Biscuit Blues Festival in Helena, AR in 2007.

After moving to Vancouver in 2008, Arsen formed the Arsen Shomakhov Trio that currently features Bruce O’Neill on bass and Chip Hart on drums. Working hard to make a name for the band, he has performed at a variety of festivals across the US and Canada including: The King Biscuit Blues Festival, The Waterfront Blues Festival, Edmonton’s Labatt Blues Festival, Montreal International Blues Festival and the Calgary International Blues Festival. He slated for the Festival International du Blues de Tremblant (Mont Tremblant International Blues Festival) in July 2017.

Arsen’s music continues to gain momentum and is appreciated by thousands of fans around the world. His humble and genuine nature combined with his natural and impressive talent make him a real asset to the BC Blues Community.

Local Trio Super Wicked Awesome will open the show.  This local band consists of Karl Hourigan, Gail Hourigan and Jay Dallamore, a blues trio featuring electric guitar, bass and drums. No frills, just 50 shades of blue.

This fantastic event is being organized by Local, Rich Tason, in support of the Kidney Foundation and his wife, Sheri’s, medical expenses from her kidney transplant last October.

“Rich and I would like to give a little back to The Kidney Foundation for their invaluable assistance throughout the transplant process. Half of the funds raised will go to The Kidney Foundation and half will go towards paying off some residual medical related expenses.” – Sheri Stuart

Proceeds from lasagna sales will go to the cause, we’ll have tons of great silent auction items, a raffle for BBQ sets and a wine cooler (full of wine!), as well as a 50/50 draw.

Not only is this event for a great cause, but for a fun time out, as there will be ​live music from 1pm – midnight!!
