BREAKOUT WEST UNVEILS NEW WEB APP

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – OCTOBER 19, 2010

Only a few days out and BreakOut West Kelowna is at the top of their game as they announce the launch of their new web mobile app before the festivities kick off on Thursday. Powered by Artistech NewMedia, the app is designed for smart phone users to be able to access the full BreakOut West schedule (complete with location maps) throughout the weekend with just a push of a finger. Information provided also includes special events, artist bios, and list of awards nominees. The app also has an SMS function embedded in it which will allow users to text in to receive real time updates as well as to participate in polling and contesting throughout the weekend.

The web app will be launched today at noon and the BreakOut West committee is hoping that this app will alleviate some of the confusion that could potentially surround the multi-day conference, festival, and awards ceremony. “As technology has become a stronger part of large scale events, a mobile app will allow the versatility of real time updates and info. The app will also allow fans and attendees to engage and contest with artists to help create a fully interactive festival experience.” quotes Quinn Best, chairman of the BreakOut West host committee.

Any smart phone user can access the web app by simply opening their web browser and going to www.breakoutwest.ca which will automatically re-direct them to the web app.

The app is only one side of BreakOut West’s involvement in the social network though. The festival committee is also hoping that attendees, artists, and delegates will all participate and ‘join the conversation’ on Twitter and on Facebook. Visit ‘BreakOutWest’ on Twitter and follow all of the latest updates throughout the weekend. The official hash tag (what you post at the end of your ‘tweet’ if you want your post to appear on another page) is #breakoutwest. You can find the official BreakOut West Facebook fan page at www.facebook.com/breakoutwest
