Jordan Klassen Announces Kindness Coast To Coast Tour Dates – Kelowna, April 28th

Vancouver based songwriter follows up 2010’s St. Brigid with a five song EP Kindness in advance of  full length album later in 2012 and takes the show coast to coast across Canada. Kindness was released on February 6th and tour dates are listed below.

“Klassen has a rare knack for making a song sound like nothing is missing despite vast changes in instrumental configuration between songs.” Grayowl Point

“It’s the accompanying music to slow motion running scenes through tall meadows. It’s deeply calming, an effect best produced by strings and soft male falsetto. It sounds clean. It sounds good.” Friends With Both Arms

Go To Me MP3 + Media Materials: http://www.killbeatmusic.com/jordanklassen/

Jordan Klassen makes music built out of pure imagination. A truly alluring voice, laid upon beds of shimmering strings, caressed guitar, and coaxing percussion. His latest work takes such a foundation, and continues to build.

With four new songs on the physical release and a Teen Daze remix of the previously released Ask Me Not, Astronaut included on the digital version, Kindness, introduces rich and full-bodied singing alongside Jordan’s now ubiquitous falsetto. The first single from the EP, Go To Me provides a glimpse as to what his upcoming LP might sound like. The song has been critically celebrated, with ChippedHip.com calling it a “cinematic pop rocker” and Holeytonal dubbing it a “gracefully dramatic little masterpiece.”

Gracefully dramatic enough to be featured in ‘Catch .44’, an upcoming film starring Bruce Willis & Forrest Whitaker, joining other Klassen creations which have found their ways onto television series’ including USA Network’s ‘Royal Pains,’ and the upcoming iTunes version of late 90’s TV show ‘Felicity’.

It has been over a year since his 2010 release, the subdued St. Brigid EP. The spring centered album was the second in Klassen’s chronicling of the seasons, the first being Tempest & Winter, an album which put him on the map with appearances at Calgary Folk Music Festival and Rifflandia, along with a live performance on CBC Radio 1 and extensive airplay on CBC Radio 2.

After 4 years spent in Calgary where he established himself as an emerging artist, Klassen returned to British Columbia in 2010, settling into his hometown of Vancouver. The return to the west coast allowed for the fruitful collaboration with Jonathan Anderson (Aidan Knight, In Medias Res) at Buena Vista Audio where Jordan Klassen’s new material has taken shape.

Corey Doak
Joshua Smith
Jordan Matchett
Glen Koide

Corey Doak
Corey (with last name pronounced like “oak” tree) has been doing his thing for over 10 years where he has been busy recording 5 albums, winning awards (like the ’09 Covenant Folk/Roots album of the year), playing hundreds of shows around the globe, sharing the stage with legends like Martyn Joseph, and concentrating on growing his hair out. His songs have a unique blend of story, offbeat humor (see Scruffy the Elf video), psalmistry and poetry bound to cause you to either laugh, cry, sit up and take notice, and/or all of the above. He’s a great writer with skills that pay the bills.

Joshua Smith
After learning to play the gee-tar at age 10 in his hometown of Halifax, Josh moved to Nashville, learned a pile of stuff, and then ventured on to the 13th best city in the world, Kelowna. His tunes remind you of words like folk, pop, chill, imaginative, and are influenced by the the artists frequently played on his iPod like James Taylor, Paul Simon, John Mayer, The Beatles, and maybe a few more. He also played Lille Gard Festthis past summer.

Jordan Matchett
Jordan is a bit of a newbie to Kelowna and a few of us met him busking on the street downtown playing an old Kay guitar from the 50s (details might be a bit off here). He played outside all summer and apparently was able to earn a decent living doing so but the winter months are too cruel for outdoor musician bravery, so we’re stoked to hear his tunes in the warmth of a cafe.

Glen Koide
Glen is a roots / rock singer songwriter who is one of the most humble artists you will ever meet. He was mysteriously injured in a bike accident a couple of months ago so he wasn’t able to make the Sept. Songwriter Circle. Luckily, he’ll be ready to strum & pick like an 8 fingered gecko. And as for that last analogy, we apologize & realize that it doesn’t make sense but you get the picture.
