The Dayglo Abortions are a punk rock band from Victoria, British Columbia, whose style combines elements of punk, heavy metal and alternative rock. Their lyrics are informed by a complete disregard for societal norms. They formed in 1979 and released their first album in 1981.

HELCION is a 3 piece heavy-melodic rock band, based out or the Okanagan, BC. Formed in late 2004, founders Jessica Toorenburgh on bass and vocals and Corey Ferguson on drums, joined forces with guitarist Richard Madsen and began developing a brand of heavy music that brought together the diverse influences from their varied backgrounds. 2008 saw the addition of Leanne Baillie on vocals, capturing the vocal harmonies from the recordings and fully realizing it LIVE!

Juno Award-winning recording artist Feist will be the first concert headliner at the new South Okanagan Events Centre this fall.

Feist‘s Oct. 14 concert was among six confirmed dates for the centre, announced Monday by Curtis Webb of Global Spectrum Facility Management.

Other headliners include Monster (truck) Madness Oct. 18; rock legends Chicago Oct. 19; the Rankin Family Feb. 3, 2009; Disney on Ice performing High School Musical Feb. 6-7; FMX (Freestyle Motocross) World Tour March 6-7; and the Lipizzaner Stallions July 11-12, 2009.

The Penticton concert will be Feist‘s first Okanagan performance and marks the start of a 12-city cross-Canada tour with folk artist Hayden.

Tickets for the Feist concert go on sale this Saturday at 10 a.m. at the former wine centre on Westminster Avenue, online at www.valleyfirsttix.com or by calling 1-877-763-2849. Ticket prices are $50 and $60.
