Library Voices – ‘Hunting Ghosts (& Other Collected Shorts)’
Young Soul Records announce album release + tour!

Since forming in the spring of 2008 Library voices have been operating at a feverish pace. After recording a 3 song demo this ten piece pop collective released EP ‘Hunting Ghosts & Other Collected Shorts, participated in several high profile festivals and showcases including Sled Island, Regina Folk Festival, Gateway Festival (Greg Keelor), and performed before 2500+ at Ness Creek. In addition the band shot a television commercial for their single Step Of The Map & Float to promote the Regina Folk Festival and was awarded a grant by the Sask Arts Board to record a full length follow up, which will commence September 1, 2008.

Hunting Ghosts & Other Collected Shorts, offers a clear and concise introduction to the collective. The groups song writing objectives are evident, bridging sophisticated pop hooks and melodies with complex harmonies and anthemic sing along choruses. Lyrically the album strays from bubblegum, addressing late night escapades, panic attacks, and the construct of home.

“Just when you feel like you’re all used up and it’s time to go, some music gets under your skin and changes your mind.” – See Magazine

The results of these studies (in pop music) are well worth the effort. Hunting Ghosts succeeds in being addictive and continuously compelling.” – Prairie Dog

Library Voices give pop a good name! Mixing classic influences (The Kinks, The Zombies) with a more contemporary indie-pop collective aesthetic they have managed to craft a handful of timeless tunes that couldn’t exist anytime but right now. While unexpected mid-song disintegrations and perfectly imperfect gang vocals add a nice seasoning to their mix, it’s their ability to never lose sight of the song that makes this so vital.” – Sled Island Festival ’08

F&M playing Kelowna August 20th at the Minstrel Cafe

F&M, is part Low, part Nick Cave, Smog and Will Oldham. The Albertan band is hinged upon two singer-songwriters: a Forensic Recreational Therapist and a Soviet Rock Culture Historian, who prefer to describe their musical style as art-folk rock. F&M, which just developed last year (2007) after a Christmas 2006 resurrection, is currently working on an artistic collaboration with local (Edmonton) artist and Deadwear entrepreneur Glen Ronald on a new album for the fall/winter. The upcoming release will be more of an art show with painting inspired by the music, and the music inspired by loss. Some of these new songs will be a part of the July 3rd show. For now, F&M is content on touring their current album, “Let Every Light Shine” (Shameless Records Canada, June 2007). Enjoy a mix of quiet intensity and brilliant pop from 5 creative music acts on Thursday, July 3, 2008.

NOTE: F&M will be playing a more acoustic show for the Okanagan dates (August 20 and 21). These shows will provide two sets of prairie born music.

Here’s some press highlights:
“studiously crafting their own brand of cerebral melodies, brilliantly showcased on 2007’s Let Every Light Shine” The Edmonton Journal “great expressive range” Katherine Duncan CBC “focused and true to the soul of their songs” VUE Weekly “delicate and smooth” The Edmonton Journal “Lullabies for adult minds” SEE Magazine

Jason Collett’s Fall Tour – Nov 4th in Kelowna

Thursday July 31, 2008 @ 05:00 PM
By: ChartAttack.com Staff

After a steady run of performances across North America since the February release of Jason Collett‘s Here’s To Being Here, the Toronto singer/songwriter will continue to tour this fall.

Collett will be joined on many dates by Rock Plaza Central and Zeus. Tickets for those shows are on sale now.

The Broken Social Scene member has released four albums since 1999. Here’s To Being Here was produced by Howie Beck.
