bio:
Several years ago, before I really played guitar or wrote music, I made a trip to London with my brothers. After hours of strumming over cobblestone streets between the Eye and the Bridge, we came across the original Hard Rock Cafe and decided to wander in. There was a man standing on the swirling carpet holding a rope in front of the stairs, he told us there was a museum tour in five minutes. He took just me and my brothers down to a place called ‘The Valt.’ A tiny room full of stuff owned by rock stars; John Lennon’s jacket and pages from his journal, Elvis Presley’s infamous white suit, Wailin’ Jennings guitar, dozens or instruments from different musicinas, the room was packed with things like this. He told us we had ten minutes to look around and play stuff if we wanted. So i picked up Bob Dylan’s guitar, put on his hat and sat down on Jimi Hendrix’s red velvet bench. I put my fingers on what I remember was somewhat of a C chord and strummed my first strum. Half a year later I started playing and writing songs and soon preforming. I like to think that there was some magic in those objects that transfered a little bit of their talent on to me. The album is available at http://www.cdbaby.com or in several indepent music record stores in Montreal. Or of course at a show or in person if you are close enough. Pick it up there are alot more songs on it.

Friday, January 16, 2009

The Habitat will be holding a party to celebrate its official launch of Music BC’s new interior office on January 16, 2009. There will be live music provided by local talent as well as a very exciting silent auction; one of the items being a Gibson Les Paul guitar signed by the Canadian music pioneer himself, Neil Young! The proceeds from all the silent auction items will help the Music BC Charitable Foundation purchase guitars for Kelowna’s Spring Valley Middle School music program.

The office, which is located on the upper level of the Habitat building, will provide services to the interior music community such as education, resources, advocacy, opportunities for funding, networking and establishing a format of communication.

Best local shows, 2008

Another year with some great shows around town. There are some shows already announced for early 2009, and hopefully a lot more when the spring rolls around. It’ll be interesting to see if the Bluffs gets utilized for a large scale rock show this year. The return of Thunderfest, Volleyfest, and maybe Wakefest should bring more bands though town.
