$20 door – $5 off if you show your student I.D.
Doors at 8pm, show at 9pm

I mentioned it back in August when the show was announced, but now the time has come!  This will be one of those “can’t miss” shows!

The Rural Alberta Advantage play indie-rock folk songs about hometowns and heartbreak, born out of images from growing up in Central and Northern Alberta. They sing about summers in the Rockies and winters on the farm, ice breakups in the spring time and the oil boom’s charm, the mine workers on compressed, the equally depressed, the city’s slow growth and the country’s wild rose, but mostly the songs just try to embrace the advantage of growing up in Alberta.

“He Said – She Said” is the new inspired show featuring a collaboration of original songs by Peter Karp and Sue Foley. The project is based around a correspondence the two shared through letters that were written over a year period. These letters started as a casual exchange between two committed performers sharing their common bond of the loneliness of the road, the pain of separation from family and home and above all, the drive to make music. But as time went on the letters they shared became more poignant, more revealing. Those letters became their songs. The result is “He Said – She Said.” The show features songs of two artists in development, sharing artistic purpose and spiritual kinship in a meeting of hearts and minds. Whether they’re performing as an acoustic duo or with their electric band the music encompasses elements of folk, jazz, flamenco, and blues resulting in a show that is moving, literate, romantic, rocking and exciting.

Blues Revue Magazine says ” ‘He Said – She Said’ is a unique, daring idea beautifully executed by two talented, inspired artists unafraid to express themselves outside of – but still influenced by – their respective genres.”

The “He Said-She Said” CD has been released to rave reviews.

“Karp’s a great writer and performer whose songs are driven by verbal word play and insights into the human experience. Like James Taylor and Bob Dylan, Karp embodies Americana music.”
-USA TODAY

“….a stunningly gifted songwriter. This guy’s a KEEPER.”
-Terry David Mulligan, CKUA Radio

“Foley is the master of her domain and as her own chief songwriter she charts the course. Nothing seems doctored or manipulated by an unseen hand.”
-Toronto Globe & Mail
“Foley has a killer voice, an impossibly alluring blend of sex and innocence to go with those blazing guitar chops.”
-Philadelphia Enquirer

Peace, Love and Inspiration tour with Chris Assaad

It’s called the Peace, Love and Inspiration tour.  And with Chris Assaad manning the musical wheel, there’s no doubt that fans will receive all three in spades. Bringing his feel-good brand of folk, roots and rock to the forefront, Assaad is ready to hit up a variety of venues to show his fans just how far a little musical love can travel.

Discovery and moving forward has always been the name of the game for Assaad.  From backpacking throughout Europe with a guitar in the early days of finding his voice, to having toured throughout Canada and independently organizing tours throughout Australia, these experiences have remained essential to his growth and development.  And now playing select cities from Ontario to BC, there’s little doubt that this tour will be a constant source of inspiration not just for himself, artistically, but for those in attendance as well.

Following the release of his debut album Glory Fire, Chris Assaad is taking standout tracks like the melodically-charged ‘Pave The Way’ and funkified ‘Better Left Unsaid’ to the stage as well as new tracks from his upcoming, yet to be named new album.  Kevin Mendes will join him on drums, flushing out his songs while maintaining the intense, stripped down feel of his tracks.  In December, Chris heads across the globe to tour the east coast of Australia, starting at Peats Ridge Music Festival as one of select Canadian acts invited alongside Jason Collett, Zeus, and Dan Mangan.

“Watch out for these guys over the next year as they ride their incredibly well recorded and excellent sounding debut.” – Fazer Magazine

It’s time for the world to get to know Chris Assaad.  Pull up a chair and get comfortable, because The Peace, Love and Inspiration Tour will only work to cement his down to earth brand of roots, folk and rock in the musical world.

Chris’s journey of leaving his job as a lawyer on Bay Street to pursue his music is showcased in his debut video for ‘Pave The Way’ directed and produced by Mark Myers:  http://www.youtube.com/user/chrisassaadmusic#p/a/u/0/OGMU1R9o3e0

Formed in the dirty back alleys and dive bars of Toronto, Ontario in 2005, THE CREEPSHOW has redefined the saying “No Rest For The Wicked”. Since their inception, the band has brought their genre-defying blend of country-tinged, psycho punk rock n’ roll to over 25 countries worldwide with plans to conquer many more as soon as possible. Fronted by the fiery Sarah “SIN” Blackwood (guitar/vox) and backed by the swarthy Sean “Sick Boy” McNab (stand-up bass/vox), The Reverend McGinty (sermons/organ/vox) and the righteous Matt “Pomade” Gee, THE CREEPSHOW is an explosion of live energy that is a tasty treat for the ears and eyes alike… Whatever you do though, don’t write THE CREEPSHOW off as just another psychobilly band. While their lyrics draw inspiration from b-movies and early horror films, they’re also full of personal insight and personal stories dealing with everything from addiction to anxiety to love gone wrong.
