(Kelowna) The Western Canadian Music Alliance is pleased to announce the dates for Break Out West 2010 in Kelowna. Formerly known as The Western Canadian Music Awards weekend, the newly named Break Out West will maintain and build on all of the elements and events that have made the past seven years such an overwhelming success, including:
· A re-envisioned conference focusing on current industry trends and one-on-one experiences.
· A two showcase per band festival maximizing our artists’ exposure and opportunity. The festival is still accepting applications but with only 60 spaces available and submissions deadline is Friday April 30, 2010 at 11:00 p.m. Musicians are encouraged to submit applications now.
· The Industry Awards Brunch and of course the Western Canadian Music Awards themselves, celebrating another year of excellence.
From Thursday, Oct. 21 to Sunday, Oct. 24 Kelowna’s downtown core and Cultural District will be teaming with music and creative energy. Each night there will be music, showcasing musicians from Western Canada in the multi-genre music festival and coming to a close in a celebration at the Kelowna Community Theatre on Sunday. Festival performances are open to the public – more information about tickets will be available by September 10, 2010.
There will be several daytime music events on Saturday and Sunday showcasing specific genres, including country, alternative rock, urban, pop, indie, roots and classical music.

The local business community, arts groups, and venue owners have already shown their enthusiasm for having these events happen in their backyard, and what a backyard it is!.” –Rick Fenton, Executive Director.
